About Us
“During the early development of The New Tucson Community, The First Southern Baptist Church of Tucson, Arizona was asked to sponsor the Baptist work here. Dr. Willis J. Ray was selected to lead and direct these activities which resulted in the establishment of the New Tucson Baptist Mission.
The first services were held July 21, 1963, in the New Tucson Community Hall. Meetings were held in the hall for several months until it became necessary to change the meeting place to another building furnished by the Horizon Land Corporation. Prayer Services in the homes were organized September 22, 1963 and the first services in the New Church building were held April 18, 1965.
Building contractors were Christian Builders Foundation from Scottsdale, Arizona.”
